As a new year starts, I’m excited and hopeful for what’s to come. 2017 was a good year and I can only imagine how awesome this one will be and I’m determined to make it my year.

This year I’m not making lots of plans at once. Instead, I’m going to tackle my goals in quarterly bases. You know what it is said, to take or do things “one day at a time”, “one step at a time”, “it is better to have small goals”… and that’s going to be my approach in 2018.

Just thinking about the things I want to accomplish this new year, my heart gets happy. One of the things that have me most excited about is working on paying off my debt using the Dave Ramsey method. I already downloaded the budgeting app EveryDollar and added my debt and prepared my budget. I also have the book that I’ll be reading and listening to solidify the steps and my commitment to this major goal.

Besides working on paying off my debt here are other things I’ll be working in 2018:

  • I’ll be working on getting healthier
    • That includes weight loss: eating better and exercising
  • I’ll be working on my relationships
    • With God, family, co-workers and true friends and dating 😉
  • I’ll be working on being more grateful and developing a glass half full attitude
  • I’ll be working on this blog
  • I’ll be working on finding a hobby like crafts or dancing or something like it
  • I’ll be reading more
  • I’ll continue playing with makeup and developing more my sense of fashion

Those are just the ones that jump at me right now and I’m going to give me permission to adjust or add more as necessary.

As you can see, there is nothing about traveling, and that’s because I’ll be working on my finances and as Dave Ramsey says, I must have “gazelle intensity“.

I KNOW this is not going to be easy. I’m not that naive. I know that at times my mind will be weak. I know that there will always be something better to do with the money. But I MUST stay strong and keep that intensity, that way later I’ll be able to travel and even own a home.

I’ve tried to do this before, but I’ve chosen the “easy way out” and didn’t have much of a plan or support system to accomplish my financial freedom, but this time I can feel it is different. I have a plan and a community of people following the Dave Ramsey method that serves as inspiration for me to start, push through and continue.

What is that one thing that you are most excited about this year? Do you have a plan and/or support system?

Here is, to an exciting and hopeful New Year! May 2018 be wonderful for you too!

To Be Continue… this new chapter has just started!
