As you might remember, last June I jumped onto the opportunity to participate in the 60 Day Challenge with Lifetime Fitness – a gym that I had recently joined -. I was really excited about having an incentive to get motivated and into the habit of going to the gym at least 4 times a week. Today I “weigh-out”, to conclude the Challenge.
Like I said, I was really excited. I made workout plans, meal plans, I went shopping, I was ready. In June I went to 3 out 4 “Try It Tuesdays”. These are workshops are designed to give you guidance and support your weight loss efforts during and after the challenge. I really enjoyed these, my favorite was the one about grocery shopping, where we went to Whole Foods and learned how to shop for a successful weight loss.
I also frequent the gym – not as much as I should have – but I did. I made an effort to go during lunch or in the afternoon. I also made an extra effort to cook more at home.
In July, all that went out the window, as it was a really crazy – and exciting month -. Traveled most of the month and to that, add an increase in my workload and that makes for a crazy time. Granted, I could have made more of an effort to go to the gym, but I didn’t. The only major thing in terms of activity that I did was walking a 5K and a half marathon the same weekend.
In August, we are done with the 60 day challenge, and as a participant we needed to “weigh-out”. I didn’t want to go. My performance was poor and I didn’t want to see the number going up and since technically, June was the only month in which I did anything related to the challenge. Regardless, I went…
What? I did not see that coming!
Probably you guessed it… I did lose weight! I was really surprised and excited. It was the push I needed to continue moving forward even when I don’t see the results I want to see.
Needless to say, I’m pleased with the results. So much so, that I’m going to sign up for a second round. This time, I will use what I learn to improve my performance and see even more pounds go away!
